What makes a man MY Man

I like initiative in a man.

Because then he will go through all the trouble to understand implicatures in his woman's words and actions.
Like how she means Yes when she says No.
Like how she just wants a hug when she pushes everyone away.

Yes, she is complex.
But that statement is just overrated.
She is not so hard to understand, if only he notices, listens, and remembers.

With initiative, he will follow through his promise of always being there for her.
A promise which every man makes when in courting.
But a promise which only rings hollowness as years roll on by.

Rain or hail, exhausted or half-dead, he will be there if she needs him to be.
Fetching her home eventhough she is half a country away;
Eventhough he himself is drugged with exhaustion;
Eventhough it is already 12 a.m. and he has to wake up early for work.

Or.

Waking up in the wee hours of the morning on a weekend and driving all the way to the farthest end of the country to where she is, just so that he can pass her tickets for an airshow which she has forgotten to bring.

My man does not need the skill of a wordsmith to crave beautiful poems or flatteries.
Words are sweet nothings when actions don't accompany.

My man will have the spirit of Brian McKnight's Back At One:
If ever he believes his work of proving how much he loves me is done, he would start all over again... back at one.

And I'm blessed to have a man like that .
:)
